This journal is basically my base of operations for research on Livejournal. I will occasionally post here on topics related to my research, or random philosophical ramblings. Feel free to add me if you are interested in similar subjects or if you would like to read my posts; I generally add back. If you are an informant (someone I've interviewed or contacted, someone who wants to be interviewed, or just someone who wants to contribute), feel free to post at anytime. I welcome controversy and opinions, but please be civil -- flaming or anything like that is generally not appreciated.
My Current Research
Currently I am investigating how people have used the internet, specifically blogs, to take individual action and organize discussion and aid groups in response to Hurricane Katrina. If you would like to share your experiences, feel free to post a comment or drop me a line via email. I am interested in talking with anyone who has any relevant experiences or tips. I am also interested in conducting online or in-person interviews with people who have participated in some of these online discussions, organized communities, or who had first hand experience with the post-hurricane situation.
Consent and Disclosure
All identities, including online identities, will be protected using pseudonyms in any future reports and publications. If you participate in my study, please download, read, and sign the consent form.
